The Recycle collective next gig on 22nd February
4/2/06
Press release - Steve Lawson, Orphy Robinson, Patrick Wood
and Roger Goula live at the Recycle Collective
Fast becoming one of the must-see monthly events on the London music
scene, this month the Recycle Collective features the lauded percussionist,
improviser and composer, former Jazz Warrior Orphy Robinson. Orphy
will be playing in a duo with Spanish electronics and guitar wizard, Roger
Goula.
The other half of this ‘double duo’ gig sees the UK’s leading solo bass
experimenter Steve Lawson paired with the Works frontman, keyboardist/
guitarist Patrick Wood.
The Recycle Collective, started by Steve Lawson, seeks to bring together
noted improvising musicians for evenings of largely improvised music. The
focus is on ‘live looping’ - the process of recording parts as the song unfolds,
and then layering and manipulating the audio without the reliance
on pre-recorded material, leading to highly textured and often beautiful
ambient sounds, electronica and IDM combined with jazz and improv.
Musicians from all over the globe are lining up to be involved, and the
infectious enthusiasm of the players is definitely rubbing off on the highly
appreciative audiences.
Previous performers include BJ Cole, Cleveland Watkiss and Theo Travis.
Date - Feb 22nd Time - doors 7pm, music 8pm
Venue - Darbucka World Music Bar, Clerkenwell, London, EC1 4JZ
Nearest Tube - Farringdon
Tickets - £6/£4 concessions.
